POLARIZATION MODE DISPERSION EMULATOR

PURPOSE: A polarization mode dispersion emulator is provided to improve the reproducibility of polarization mode dispersion by changing a minimum polarization mode dispersion value of a polarization maintaining fiber loop and the number of loop to set a desired resolving power and a maximum polarization mode dispersion. CONSTITUTION: Fiber loops(410) having a constant polarization mode dispersion are melt-connected to each other between single mode fibers(420). A value of polarization mode dispersion of the respective single mode fiber(420) is very smaller than that of the respective fiber loops(410). The other end of each of the single mode fiber(420) is connected to each of stepping motors(430). The stepping motors(430) rotate one of the fiber loops(410). A controller(440) generates an electric signal for driving the stepping motors(430).
