PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder and a temperature control method in which the power consumption is reduced, an ink discharge amount irregularity is reduced regardless of a bias of used nozzles in an ink jet recording head, and images without density irregularities are formed. SOLUTION: In recording with the use of a full line ink jet recording head where a plurality of recording elements including electrothermal conversion bodies are arranged, the width of a recording medium is detected, and it is so set in accordance with the detected result that a first driving signal is applied to a first part corresponding to the width of the recording medium among the plurality of recording elements, so as to discharge ink from the recording elements according to recording data or a second driving signal in a level whereby ink is not discharged is applied to the first part, and no driving signal is applied to a second part corresponding to the outside of the recording medium. The ink jet recording head is driven in accordance with the setting when recording data is inputted. |
