PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensor corresponding to a high dynamic range where a high-sensitivity image pickup device is achieved by nearly the conventional technological chip size. SOLUTION: The photosensor comprises a light/electricity converter PD for detecting an optical signal (p) by current, a bipolar transistor Tr for amplifying the optical current Ip that is detected by the light/electricity converter PD, a switching means illustrated by switch elements SW1 and SW2 for selecting/switching an optical current Ip or an optical current signal Is where the optical current Ip is subjected to current amplification by a bipolar transistor according to a brightness signal (AE signal) of the subject, and a current integration circuit for integrating the optical current Ip or the optical current signal Is that is selected by the switching means SW1 and SW2.
