PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of easily detaching an evaporator 33, when the distance between an air conditioner unit 4 and a ventilation unit 3 is shorter than the length of the evaporator 33 in the car width direction. SOLUTION: The evaporator 33 is pulled out from the air conditioner unit 4 with an intermediate duct detached therefrom to the ventilation unit 3. When the greater part of the evaporator 33 is pulled out, there are no ribs 81 and 82 left in the part of the evaporator 33 left in the air conditioner unit 4 and an expansion part 83 where a casing 30 is expanded outward is facing thereto so that the part of the evaporator 33 left in the air conditioner unit can be moved upward. The whole evaporator 33 is inclined thereby and pulled out along the inclination to the lower part of the ventilation unit so that the evaporator 33 can be completely pulled out without contacting with the ventilation unit 3.
