PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction roller capable of adjusting a suction width according to the width of a web and preventing dirt from spattering. SOLUTION: This suction roller 10 comprises a fixed tube 16 fixed to a device body 22, a shaft member 14 inserted into the fixed tube 16, a roller 18 rotatably supported on the outside of the fixed tube 16, and suction chambers 20X, 20Y, and 20Y formed between the fixed tube 16 and the roller 18. The shaft, member 14 is rotatably supported, and the suction chambers 20X, 20Y, and 20Y are allowed to communicate with a suction device by aligning a hole 42A in the shaft member 14 with the positions of the holes 16X and 16Y and only the suction chamber 20X is allowed to communicate with the suction device by aligning a hole 42B in the shaft member 14 with the position of the hole 16X. Thus the suction width can be adjusted in two steps, i.e., W3 and W4.
