PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melanin formation inhibitor derived from a natural product and having excellent inhibitory effects on melanin formation such as stability, adverse effects and the inhibitory effects on the melanin formation. SOLUTION: This melanin formation inhibitor is obtained by including a solvent extract from one or more species of plants selected from Croton eluteria B. (the family Euphorbiaceae), Elettaria cardamomum Maton var. (the family Zingiberaceae) and Carum carvi L. (the family Umbelliferae) as an active ingredient.
