PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the indoor unit of an air conditioner which has a minus ion generator capable of preventing the occurrence of ozone caused by abnormal discharge and capable of performing efficient generation of minus ions and being excellent in safety. SOLUTION: This indoor unit is equipped with a container 120 for protection whose surface is subjected to antistatic treatment, a slit 130 which is opened in the direction of the blast of a draft air duct, besides being in a position opposed to the tip of a generator electrode 112, a grounding screw boss part 123 which is provided integrally with the surface of the container 120 for protection in a position spaced apart from the tip extension of the generator electrode 112, at which position arc discharge does not occur, and into the head of which boss part the bottom tip of an earth screw 125 for connecting a grounding wire is inserted from above, and a grounding part E where the bottom tip of the grounding screw 125 is inserted into the grounding screw boss part 123 and the grounding wire is connected to the head.
