PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an organic acid and/or an organic acid ester by which the organic acid and/or organic acid ester can stably be produced and a high thermal efficiency can always be realized for waste heat generated in the production process. SOLUTION: This method for producing the organic acid and/or organic acid ester is characterized as follows. The generated heat in the production process for the organic acid and/or the organic acid ester is recovered as steam. The resultant generated steam is used as any of (1) thermal energy, (2) mechanical energy and (3) electrical energy in the production process for the organic acid and/or organic acid ester.
