OPTICAL FIBER WITH PHOTONIC CRYSTAL STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber with a photonic crystal structure which is a single mode optical fiber having a photonic band gap structure in the clad and which can transmit light signals in a large capacity. SOLUTION: In the optical fiber having a photonic crystal structure, the diffraction grating having the photonic band gap structure in the clad of the optical fiber is composed of gratings having two or more kinds of diffraction grating intervals so that the transmittable wavelength band is enlarged by adding the different ranges of wavelength confinement possessed by the respective gratings.
