PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tris-adamantane-based compound useful as a photoresist additive, an intermediate for medicines or agrochemicals, or a resin additive (heat resistance-improving agent). SOLUTION: This 1,3-adamantanedicarboxylic acid-bis(2'-alkyl-2'-adamantyl) ester compound is represented by the general formula (I) [R<1> and R<2> are each a 1 to 8C alkyl; X<1> and X<2> are each H, a halogen atom, a 1 to 8C alkyl, OH, a 1 to 8C alkoxy, carboxy or COOR<3> (R<3> is a 1 to 8C alkyl)].
