PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for profitably producing a halogenated aromatic methylamine compound of formula (2) [X is chlorine atom or fluorine atom; (m) is an integer of 1 to 5; (n) is an integer of 1 to 5; (m)+(n)<=6; when (n) is >=2, X groups may be the same or different each other; (a) is an integer of >=1] especially useful for producing pyrethroid insecticides in a high yield, and to provide an intermediate raw material for producing agrochemicals, medicines or the like, especially the pyrethroid insecticides. SOLUTION: This method for producing the halogenated aromatic methylamine compound comprises reducing a halogenated aromatic nitrile compound with hydrogen in the presence of an organic acid and a hydrogenation catalyst. |
