PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation amount of soot in an internal combustion engine. First combustion of which the intake amount is less than the predetermined intake amount and the fuel supply amount is less than the predetermined fuel supply amount according to engine demand torque in order to output the engine demand torque, and second combustion of which the intake amount is more than the predetermined intake amount and the fuel supply amount is more than the predetermined fuel supply amount are switched. There is discontinuity between the fuel supply amount immediately before engine combustion is switched from the first combustion to the second combustion and the fuel supply amount immediately before the engine combustion is switched from the second combustion to the first combustion. When the engine combustion is switched from the first combustion to the second combustion, the fuel supply amount is set less than the required amount for outputting the engine demand torque. |
