PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rationalize visual inspection, to provide an electronic photographic member of high quality, and to provide an image of high quality, by concurrently detecting automatically generation of an interference fringe and an appearance defect in the electronic photographic member, without depending on visual observation. SOLUTION: In this inspecting method for inspecting the electronic photographic member, the electronic photographic member formed with at least a photosensitive layer on a base material for the electronic photographic member is irradiated with light of a single wavelength, regular reflection light of the single-wavelength light is photoreceived by a line sensor camera to conduct image processing, and the generation of the interference fringe and the appearance defect in the electronic photographic member are thereby detected at the same time.
