PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a regulator for flower bud formation by finding out an ingredient in which flower bud formation-regulating action is observed and using the same ingredient as an effective ingredient. SOLUTION: This regulator for flower bud formation contains an unsaturated fatty acid derivative expressed by general formula (1) (wherein A expresses a divalent group: HC=CH or H2 C-CH2 ; R expresses H, methyl, ethyl, propyl or isopropyl; n expresses 1-10 integer) and having a flower bud formation- inhibiting action as an effective ingredient.
