PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material excellent in long-term preservability and resistance to stagnancy of a coating liquid and having no temperature dependency in exposure and to provide a method for producing the silver halide photographic sensitive material. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material has silver halide grains having the spectral maximum sensitivity at 700-1,500 nm and contains at least one of an N-oxide compound and a pyrazolidone compound in a silver halide emulsion layer and/or a hydrophilic colloidal layer adjacent to the emulsion layer. In the method for producing the silver halide photographic sensitive material, at least one of the N-oxide compound and the pyrazolidone compound is added at least 30 sec before adding a sensitizing dye to the silver halide emulsion grains.
