PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and reliably exchange the diaphragm of a vertical illuminating device which is arranged in an inverted microscope and irradiates a specimen with light such as exciting light for emitting fluorescence. SOLUTION: The vertical illuminating device for an inverted microscope arranges its main body by passing through the supporting leg part of the stage of the inverted microscope. The device main body is provided with a detachable diaphragm unit. The above diaphragm unit is arranged at a position deviated from the supporting leg part of the device main body.
