PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve water impermeability. SOLUTION: In this segment sealing method, a plurality of curved plate like segment pieces 10 are adjacently arranged along a tunnel excavated face so that the circumferential end faces are jointed to each other, and a circumferential sealant is interposed between the pieces 10 to connect them to each other, thus forming a ring-like assembly 28. With the progress of excavation, the ring-like assemblies 28 are adjacently formed in sequence so that the axial end faces are jointed to each other, and an axial sealant 26 is interposed between the assemblies 28 extended along the axial direction of the tunnel to connect the assemblies 28 to each other, thus constructing a cylindrical segment on the tunnel excavated face. Every time one ring portion of the assemblies 28 is formed, the axial sealant 26 is circularly installed in a continuous annular state without a joint at the working face side end face of the assemblies 28 before connecting the assemblies 28 to each other.
