PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for discharging and feeding paper in a recording device, and the recoding device capable of shortening a paper interval between a precedent paper to be discharged and a succeeding paper to be fed, and facilitating improvement of throughput of the recording device. SOLUTION: An ASIC of a printer starts a counting process of a counter (S120), and conducts an initial setting process (S130) when a tip end of the paper is detected by a paper detecting sensor 16 (S110). The counter is reset once in an initial setting position. A paper feed amount when the paper is fed or is discharged, is counted by the counter, and a counting value equivalent to the position from the tip end of the paper is counted by the counter (S140, S150). A paper residual length (a residua length of the paper on a back side) A is calculated from the counting value and paper length data L, and when the paper residual length A is less than a set value A1, an LD roller set operation is conducted (S160, S170). The set value A1 is set to be a value for securing an interval between the precedent paper and the succeeding paper.
