PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball-point pen of a novel design with such features that an operation to feed the apex of a tip is carried out by one hand and the ratio of the feed stroke length to the operating stroke length, of the apex of the tip can be designed to the desired value. SOLUTION: The ball-point pen is of such a structure that a pinion 4 is pivotally supported from outside through an operating aperture 3c, in a barrel 3 with an apex opening 3d and an operating opening 3c, so that the pinion 4 can be operated by rotating it. Further, a rack 5 engaged with the pinion 4 is provided in such a way that the rack 5 is reciprocated in the axial direction of the barrel 3. In addition, the tip 2 is connected to the apex of the rack 5 through an inside refill 9 and the apex 2a of the tip 2 is made to freely pop up/down through the apex opening 3d of the barrel 3.
