PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for an optical material having high optical transparency and high durability of light resistance and the optical material, to provide a method for producing the optical material and to obtain a light emitting diode using the optical material. SOLUTION: In this curable composition for an optical material comprising (A) an organic compound composed of an organic skeleton containing at least two carbon-carbon double bonds having reactivity with a SiH group in one molecule, (B) a silicon compound containing at least two SiH groups in one molecule and (C) a hydrosilylation catalyst as essential components, the ratio of the number (X) of the carbon-carbon double bonds having reactivity with the SiH group of the component (A) to the number (Y) of the SiH groups of the component (B) is 1.2<=Y/X<=5.
