PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens which lessens the feel of discomfort by changing of the lens even when an old lens by old prescription is changed to a lens by new prescription. SOLUTION: When the spectacle lens prescription values of a customer are sent from an orderer side computer to a manufacturer side computer, the presence or absence of the existing prescription data of the customer is checked and if there is the existing prescription data, the optical performance of the new and old designed lenses is compared. If the differences are within a prescribed range, a processing step is started; otherwise, the fresh design data is adopted again and the optical characteristics are compared. The above steps are repeated until the optical performance differences attain the prescribed range.
