PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator door safety device for easily pulling out fingers when the fingers are nipped between a door of an elevator and a doorway frame. SOLUTION: This elevator door safety device is provided with a contact sensor arranged on a surface opposed to the door of an opening side edge part of the doorway frame of the elevator, and generating a detecting signal for expressing that at least a part of the passenger body is inserted between the door and the doorway frame, a movable frame arranged on a surface opposed to the contact sensor of the doorway frame, and movable between a nonoperating position for forming a part of the doorway frame and an operation position moved in the direction for expanding clearance with the door, and a driving device for driving the movable frame to the operation position from the nonoperating position according to the detecting signal from the contact sensor.
