PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid reservoir tank which is free from fear of a liquid necessary to be cooled coming into contact with a refrigerant and a method of thus installing a cooling jacket on the tank. SOLUTION: In the liquid reservoir tank, the cooling jacket has a wall which defines a refrigerant passage closed in a circumferential direction, and the wall is connected with a side plate via an adhesive. The method of installing the cooling jacket comprises steps of attaching a bolt or a flat bar 20 for holding and pressing a jacket portion 11' to each side plate 12' before being welded, keeping a plurality of jacket portions 11' which can communicate with one another horizontal by the bolt or the flat bar 20, disposing heat transfer cement between the respective jacket portions 11' and respective side plates 12', pressing each jacket portion 11' against each side plate by the bolt or the flat bar 20 for mounting, welding the plurality of side plates with the jacket portions 11' mounted, and in addition connecting predetermined jacket portions on adjacent side plates via coupling tubes 18.
