PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable ink jet head which can record favorable images with reduced distortion and density irregularities at high speed. SOLUTION: The ink jet head is provided with a head substrate having a heating resistor and a pair of electrodes set over, and a top plate arranged above the head substrate. The ink jet head discharges ink filled between the head substrate and the top plate from ink discharge holes by heat of the heating resistor. The heating resistor is formed of a TiC-SiO2 based resistance material, and a TiC content in the resistance material is set to be 55 mol%-90 mol%.
