PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam cooker, in which a cook is prevented from being shot by steam at the time he puts/takes out a to-be-cooked material into/from a heating chamber, and the material is perfectly cooked. SOLUTION: A to-be-cooked material 13 is held and heated in a heating chamber 2. A steam-generating device 7 generates steam, which is stored in a steam tank 8. An opening/closing board 9 constitutes a part of the wall between the steam tank 8 and the heating chamber 2. An opening/closing means 11 is provided to open/close the board 9. A temperature detector 10 detects that the tank 8 is filled with steam. On receiving signals from the detector 10, the opening/closing means 11 opens the board 9, then steam is filled in the heating chamber 2 in a short time to heat the material 13 quickly.
