PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool having an identifying means which can be used in a machine tool for directly chucking the tool by providing direct identification information to the tool, transmit and display the tool information between a machine and a computer device, and eliminate any troubles of mistakenly picking the tool itself and the identification information. SOLUTION: The tool having the identifying means has a cord 2 which is an identifying means including the tool information on an outer circumference of a shank 1c or an end face 1d of the shank of the tool 1 directly chucked by a chucking means of the machine tool.
