PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can stably display an image of high picture quality by reflection and transmission. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a liquid crystal display panel 10 which has a liquid crystal layer 300 sandwiched between a couple of substrates 100 and 200 and a back light unit 10 which lights up the liquid crystal display panel 10 from behind. One pixel area P has a reflection part PR which reflects external light to display a screen picture and a transmission part PT which transmits back-light light emitted by the back light unit 300 to display a screen picture. The 1st direction where the intensity of the reflected light reflected by the reflection part PR becomes maximum is nearly the same as the 2nd direction where the intensity of the back-light light transmitted by the transmission part PT becomes maximum, and the 1st and 2nd directions are slanted at a specific angle θ to the normal direction O of the liquid crystal display panel 10. |
