PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve toughness of a base metal along with ensuring corrosion resistance of a cladding metal. SOLUTION: In a heat treatment method for a clad steel material consisting of the base metal made from a carbon steel, and the cladding metal made from a non-magnetic metal, this method comprises applying an alternating current of 3 kHz or higher to a high-frequency induction heating means having an output of 1,000 kw per 1 m width of the clad steel material or higher, so as to make a surface temperature rising rate on the base metal to be 5 deg.C/sec or higher, to heat the cladding metal to 900 deg.C or higher with the high-frequency induction heating means, and making the surface temperature on the base metal after completing heating to be 800 deg.C or lower, and a temperature at a center of sheet thickness of the base metal to be 750 deg.C or lower.
