PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair dye composition which has excellent hair-dyeing force and excellent color fastness, and gives excellent touch to hair, after the hair is dyed. SOLUTION: This hair dye composition is characterized by comprising an alkyl phosphate, an aromatic alcohol and/or a lower alkylene carbonate, and a direct dye.
