PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolator capable of damping vibration acceleration applied to a mounted material by stepwise producing the sliding between the mounted material and a moving plate upper surface, and between a moving plate lower surface and a floor surface. SOLUTION: This base isolator 1 is so constituted that support legs 21 of the mounted material 2 are movably mounted, and is provided with the moving plate 4 movably laid on the floor surface 3 and an elastic body 5 connecting the moving plate 4 to the support legs 21 of the mounted material 2 and applying a restoring force to the movement of the mounted material 2. The mounted material 2 slides on the moving plate 4 in a small vibration and the sliding of the moving plate 4 on the floor surface 3 damps the vibration acceleration in a larger vibration.
