PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston abrasion-resistant ring with high product reliability while effectively cooling a piston ring, and a manufacturing method for the piston abrasion-resistant ring with excellent productivity. SOLUTION: This piston abrasion-resistant ring 20 fixed to a piston body and having a piston ring groove and an annular cooling cavity part S, is composed of an abrasion-resistant ring body 21 formed of iron-based material powder and having an annular groove 21a, and a closing member 22 formed of iron-based material powder and closing the annular groove 21a to form the cooling cavity parts S. The piston abrasion-resistant ring has a penetration layer L of Cu or a Cu alloy formed when Cu or a Cu alloy material M arranged near the joint face of the abrasion-resistant ring body 21 and closing body 22 penetrates in sintering, straddling both members.
