PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for applying a liquid by which a uniform fluorescent screen is formed with high precision without causing bubble unevenness due to production of bubbles in a coating liquid and to provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a cathode ray tube by using the same. SOLUTION: The liquid applying apparatus is provided with a holding part 3 for holding a coating surface 21 to incline to the horizontal direction, a coating apparatus 4 for applying the coating liquid to the inclined coating surface 21 and a controller for controlling the relative positional relationship between the coating apparatus 4 and the coating surface 21. The coating surface 21 is held to be inclined and the coating liquid is applied along the inclined coating surface 21 from the upper side toward the lower side.
