PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively removing graphite discharged from a muffler of a diesel engine motorcar with a catalyst absorbed chemical as well as for removing carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides by absorbing with this chemical. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas is cleaned by fixing a gas exhausted from the end of a muffler inserted up to the position 1 shown in the figure by contacting with the bottom part of a strainer 2 and passing a gas to be treated through a chemical insertion part 3 which includes carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides catalyst chemical. The exhaust of the gas is smoothly performed since the gas is exhausted from a cap surface 4 and the strainer side surface. Simultaneously, the graphite is extremely removed by the filter-like chemical. The chemical is usually white and nonpoisonous. When it becomes black by the catalyst of the exhaust gas, only the chemical is replaceable and the strainer including the chemical 3 is exchangeable by loosening and removing a bolt 5 for fitting the muffler, or removing the cap 4 of the strainer including the chemical 3. |
