PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for filtering cake which can accelerate the filtration of cake without adding a filtration assistant, or the like, and a filtration apparatus. SOLUTION: A filter device 2 in which a filter medium 7 is set between a pressurizable filtration chamber 5 and a filtrate discharge passage 6 and a slurry supply apparatus 3 for supplying slurry A to the chamber 5 are provided. The slurry supply apparatus 3 has a pressurization tank 14 having a slurry inlet 14a and a gas supply apparatus 17 for supplying compressed gas G to the tank 14. By expanding a filtrate passage in a cake layer C by bubbles B discharged from filtrate the pressure of which is reduced with the advance of the filtrate in the cake layer C, the increase in filtration resistance can be controlled.
