PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To join thin metal plates by friction stir welding favorable of the thin metal plate. SOLUTION: A non-consumable pin 14 for a probe 16 is eccentrically mounted against the probe 16 to revolve the non-consumable pin 14 against the axial line 16x of the probe 16, and while the lower half part of the non-consumable pin 14 is subjected to diametric expansion in a taper state to generate large frictional heat in the thin material to be welded as well, welding is carried out by stirring.
