PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a model animal useful for elucidating a mechanism of sleep-wake abnormality in human. SOLUTION: The animal in which diurnal rhythm exhibits night type and clock gene has variation, a fertilized egg obtained by crossing animals, a method for preparing the mouse in which diurnal rhythm exhibits night type, characterized by backcrossing a mouse in which clock gene has variation and which has genetic background other than Jcl:ICR line with a mouse having a genetic background of Jcl:ICR line and a method for screening a compound having an influence on stability of a Clock protein or a Clock mRNA isolated from the animal of the present invention by using the Clock protein or the Clock mRNA are provided.
