PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing a medium base for mushroom culture, with which needle-leaf trees such as Cryptomeria japonica, white cedar, etc., can be used as the medium base for mushroom culture. SOLUTION: This apparatus for producing a medium base for mushroom culture comprises a transportation and supply means composed of a hopper 1 to which a wood ground material obtained by grinding needle-leaf trees such as Cryptomeria japonica, white cedar, etc., is supplied, a conveyor 2 such as belt conveyor, screw conveyor, etc., and a rotary feeder 8, a heating chamber 3 which boils the wood ground material supplied by the transportation and supply means in hot water, decomposes substances inadequate for mushroom culture such as plant growth inhibitor, etc., contained in needle-leaf trees and removing the substances from the wood ground material, a discharging means 1 for taking out the wood ground substances boiled in hot water for a fixed time from the heating chamber 3 and a removed substance recovery means 6 for recovering the removed substance from the wood ground material.
