PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grasp exactly the dotting position for spot welding, and on the basis of the grasped dotting position, welding condition is selected. SOLUTION: Between a jig 100 and a stationary side electrode 132 of a welding gun 130, voltage is applied, and when the stationary side electrode 132 is brought into contact with a vehicle body frame W, currents flowing in respective jig posts 100a-100i are detected. And on the basis of the ratios of the currents flowing in respective jig posts 100a-100i, the contact position of the stationary electrode, i.e., dotting positions are detected. When the dotting position is the previously stored dotting position, the welding condition of the dotting position is selected and the spot welding is performed.
