PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus and coating method in which a coating film is formed efficiently and uniformly on a base material having a large size. SOLUTION: In the coating of the base material by discharging a coating material from a coating material outlet using the coating apparatus including 1) a coater (302) which has at least 2 coating material nozzles and in which the coating material outlets of the coating material nozzles are linearly arranged and 2) a driving device (306) for repeating to reciprocatively move the coater (302) relatively to the base material (400) along the direction to which the coating material outlets are arranged, the position of the base material opposed to the coating material outlet is changed with time to prevent the occurrence of the under lap and the over lap by repeating the reciprocative movement of the coater to the base material along the direction to which the coating material outlets are arranged.
