PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate and recover a mixture gas of any two to six kinds of H2 , D2 , T2 , HD, HT and DT comprising an isotope of hydrogen or H2 O, D2 O, T2 O, HDO, HTO or DTO, i.e., an isotope compound of oxygen-hydrogen by finally converting any form thereof to a light hydrogen molecule (H2 ), a deutrium molecule (D2 ) and a tritium molecule (T2 ). SOLUTION: In the material for separating an isotope of hydrogen, an alloy constituted by a two-component element of palladium and platinum is carried on a base material comprising an inorganic substance. For example, the base material constituted by a non-oxidated ceramic such as silicon carbide, silicon nitride, boron nitride, titanium nitride or a hydrogen non-occlusive metal therewith has a granular, spherical, porous or fibrous shape and the alloy constituted by palladium and platinum is carried on this base material. |
