PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a catalyst membrane capable of very efficiently separating and removing carbon monoxide from a hydrogen-rich gas formed by reforming an alcohol or lower hydrocarbon fuel by a steam reforming reaction and containing carbon monoxide in a high concentration by the combination of a membrane separation action with a catalyst reaction action and capable of being arranged and mounted even in a narrow space of e.g. an automobile, to provide a method for producing the catalyst membrane at a low cost by a simple process, and to provide a method for selectively removing carbon monoxide wherein energy loss can be avoided by reducing a complicated process comprising the two steps of a shift reaction and an oxidation reaction necessary for removing CO from a reformed product to a simple one-stage process. SOLUTION: The catalyst membrane has a porous substrate 2, a porous ceramic membrane 3 formed on the substrate 2 and carrying one or more metals selected from Pt, Ru, Pd, Ni, Co, Cu, Rh, and Ag, and a microporous separation layer 4 formed on the membrane 3. |
