Air drawn in using an electric motor-driven fan (4) is passed through a filter medium before reaching the inside of the building. An air purification device comprises a filter casing (6) which is mounted in a front, back or side wall of a building and optionally extended using an air duct. A multi-position switch (5) is used to operate an electric motor for driving a fan that draws in air from the surrounding atmosphere and passes it through a filter medium before it reaches the inside of the building.
