Gas leaving the compressor is cooled to a specific temperature and cooled using water returning from a district heating system at a specific temperature. A method for recovering heat from a gas compression step in an air separation device in order to use it for district heating, comprises compressing the gas in at least two steps, cooling the gas with a coolant after each compression step and recovering the heat from the coolant. The gas is cooled to 50-80 deg C and the coolant is heated to 70-110 deg C. Cooling of the gas is carried out using water returning from the district heating system at a temperature of 40-70 deg C. An Independent claim is also included for the heat recovery apparatus, comprising compressors (30) interconnected via cooling devices. |
