PURPOSE: A stay rod for closing an engine room of a vehicle is provided to prevent peeling of paint of a hood by forming a sound insulating part in the surface of a support rod, and to cut down expenses by reducing process and parts. CONSTITUTION: A stay rod for shielding an engine room of a vehicle is composed of a supporting part(110) installed in the upper part of an upper member(3) of a radiator and stood selectively to keep a hood(1) open; and a sound insulating part(120) installed in the surface of the supporting part and contacted to the inner surface of the hood to insulate sound of the engine room. Peeling of the hood is prevented with restricting the contact of the supporting part and the lower part of the hood by forming the sound insulating part.
