FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic synthesis, namely, to method of synthesis of 3,5-dimethyl-2-ethylpyridine that can be used in synthesis of corrosion inhibitors and medicinal preparations. Method if based on heterocyclization reaction of allylamine by palladium chloride as catalyst in the mole ratio [PdCl2] : [allylamine] = [0.01-0.005] : 1, respectively. Reaction is carried out at temperature 140-160 C for 6-9 h. The yield of end product is 69%. Method differs from the known ones by the more yield of end product, more mild reaction conditions and high selectivity of process.
