PURPOSE: A mapping device to a GFP(Generic Frame Procedure) of an Ethernet data frame and a method therefor are provided to map an Ethernet MAC(Media Access Control) frame to the GFP frame. CONSTITUTION: An interface unit(510) receives an Ethernet frame and extracts a clock signal and serial data. A GFP mapper(500) divides the clock signal extracted in the interface unit(510), converts the serial data into parallel data, extracts a data start point of a frame, and performs a mapping to a GFP frame from the extracted data start point. A mapping/virtual connection unit(560) maps the data mapped in the GFP mapper(500) to an SDH(Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) frame, perform a virtual connection, and transmits the data to an SDH transmission device.
