RECEIVING/TRANSMITTING APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING FORWARD ERROR CORRECTION IN ASYMMETRIC DIGITAL SUBSCRIBE LINE AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A receiving/transmitting apparatus for performing forward error correction in an asymmetric digital subscribe line and a method thereof are provided to reduce the number of logic gate to be used by sharing a forward error correction block at a different time. CONSTITUTION: A transmission FEC(Forward Error Correction) processing unit(30) receives data that is framed at a framer block on a fast path and an interleave path and performs FEC on the received data according to a DMT(Discrete Multitone modulation) symbol value per an RS(Reed Solomon) codeword. An interleaver(19) performs an interleaving on the interleave path on the basis of the data processed in the transmission FEC processing unit(30). A tone order unit(20) performs a tone ordering on data outputted from the fast path and the interleave path in the transmission FEC processing unit(30).
