PURPOSE: An IPC(Inter Process Communication) method and an apparatus therefor are provided to perform an IPC with the excellent reusability and portability of a software irrespective of an OS(Operating System) used in a communication system. CONSTITUTION: An OS unified interface function capable of independently accessing an OS of a communication device is provided by an OIA(Operating system Independent Access) layer(54). A device unified interface function capable of independently accessing physical devices of the communication device is provided by a DIA(Device Independent Access) layer(46). A message from a source is transmitted to a destination through at least one between the OIA layer(54) and the DIA layer(46) using destination information provided by a source task and a common task architecture having a basic common control flow of a task by a UIPC(Unified IPC) layer(30).
