PURPOSE: A device and a method for booting using a multi-division flash ROM are provided to stably operate a system board in any case without malfunction by using a normal section region among a plurality of section regions when initializing or updating the system board. CONSTITUTION: The multi-division flash ROM(300) offers an updated initialization program by comprising a common region(310) including a basic initialization program, a program deciding the normality of the section regions and the program deciding the version information of each section, and a plurality of section regions(320,330) storing the initialization program of a different version. A RAM(200) temporarily stores the initialization program loaded from an upper board in order to perform a burning work. A control processor(100) loads the initialization program temporarily stored in the RAM to an abnormal region or the section region(320,330) of a lower version in the multi-division flash ROM(300), and initializes or updates the system board by using the loaded initialization program.
