PURPOSE: A sustained release aromatic gel composition for an air cleaner is provided, which gives out fragrance and deodorizing component by the driving of a pan. CONSTITUTION: The sustained release aromatic gel composition comprises perfume; 1.0-10 wt% of a gelating agent; 0.5-10.0 wt% of a humectant; 0.5-5.0 wt% of a dispersing agent; 0.5-15.0 wt% of a retarder; and 1.0-15.0 wt% of a water-soluble plasticizer. Preferably the gelating agent is selected from the group consisting of agar, alginic acid, starch, guar gum, carrageenan, gelatin, gellan gum, locust bean gum, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, carbomer, poly(vinyl alcohol), cellulose derivatives, polymethacrylic acid, poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) and mixtures thereof; the humectant is selected from ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerin, sorbitol, xylitol and diproylene glycol; and the retarder is selected from the group consisting of flowing paraffin, isopropyl myristate, cetyl alcohol, palm oil, squalene, stearic acid, stearate and mixtures thereof.
